Family owned and operated for the past four generations, the little shop on Main Street is up for business during the summer hours and serves both tourists and locals alike. May’s Candy Shop has also been attributed with being the oldest fudge shop on the island. Migrating from Atchison, Kansas to Mackinac island in the 30s, Harold May started his fudge apprenticeship with Murdick, but left shortly after to start his own business: May’s Candy Shop.
During this past season, they offered flavors such as French Vanilla, Amaretto Chocolate Chip, Butter Pecan, Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Nut. Their most popular products include their crunchy peanut brittle and their ever-sweet English Toffee.
With several months to prepare for its next seasonal opening, the items that might make an appearance are nothing short of a mystery.
